Reading aloud is personal. Here is exactly how your recordings and details are handled.
Every recording is stored under a random identifier — never your name, the book title or anything else identifying. Nothing in the file name reveals who you are or what you read.
Recordings are uploaded over an encrypted connection and stored encrypted by the storage provider. The storage area is private — nothing in it can be reached without a signed link.
New sessions are private. Only you can open your recordings, and a playback link is created fresh each time you press play and expires after one hour.
Deleting a session removes the recording, its details and the voice replies to it. In Settings you can delete your whole account and everything in it whenever you like.
Recordings are never used to train models, never sold, and never shared with advertisers.
Live transcription uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. In Chrome and Edge, the browser sends your audio to its maker (Google or Microsoft) to turn it into text; we only receive the text.
When the reading coach is on, the last part of your transcript and the book title — text, never your recording — are sent to our AI provider to write a question, and the question is sent to a voice provider to be read aloud. You can switch the coach off in Settings.
A session only becomes visible to others if you switch it to public yourself. Once it is public, anyone holding the link can watch it without an account, and the name on your profile is shown next to it. Switching the session back to private stops the link working straight away.
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how it is used, or object to processing. Deletion is available directly in the app, and for anything else you can write to us and we will respond within 30 days.
Payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store your card details.
